Self-Portrait: Better Days - Julia Sullivan

Photography

11"x 8.5" x .5"

Throughout the years of dealing with a major mental illness I have also experienced better days. Three years ago my father, who was a professional photographer, passed away and he left his camera to me. I began taking pictures during the pandemic and found that it was an amazing way to grieve the loss of my dad and a great way to continue to feel his presence with me. I was able to be out in nature and found more solace and emotional healing. I will continue with my photography and will always remain a mental health advocate. I want to do whatever I can to help as many people as possible to find the help and support that they need. I want anyone who is struggling right now to know that it is ok to talk, there is no shame in seeking help and there is hope. And one last quote, "Promise me you'll always remember--you're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think." Christopher Robin
