Scholarship With UF's School of the Arts

For those of you who were at our critique meeting last Thursday, what an incredible success it was! Members were so focused on what Lynn was saying, I am willing to bet, everyone learned something from each piece critiqued. We will do this again next year, so keep your eyes on the topics for each meeting. Our next General Meeting will be a first for the GFAA. This year we established a scholarship with the University of Florida School of Arts. On November 10th we will meet the 2 students who received the scholarship. They will have a presentation for us. We will also have Jennifer Coolidge, Director of Development and Alumni Affairs, as well as Maria Rogal, Director of the School of Art and Art History, as our guests. At a time when students' lives are being so deeply affected financially when they leave college, to be able to do something that will even minimally lighten the load is important. It is time for the GFAA to give back, support the arts and the students in our community, and we intend to do even more. And, btw, I have had a scholarship at the UF School of Education for 15 years. Every year I get to meet the student who was chosen for my scholarship. What a thrill it is. For between $1000-1500, you can pay for a class, books or more. And they are so appreciative. Please put this date on your calendar. Join us to show the GFAA’s support of the art students in our community!

NEWS: ALL MEMBERS WHO ARE BRINGING ART TO THE MIXED MEDIA AND COLLAGE DROP OFF, PLEASE BRING A BIO. WE WILL NOW HAVE A BIO BOOK FOR EACH SHOW.
