I like to manipulate familiar images to alter their context, to change the way they are perceived. I start out simply to amuse myself. At some point a theme starts to emerge. Most of my pieces tend to have political themes. I work at a piece until it starts to feel self-aware. I find there is a dissonance between the fun I have creating a piece and the emotion the finish piece provokes, this tension brings these pieces to life for me.
