Stephanie Perez is a visual artist based in Gainesville, Florida, and a proud Florida native. She holds a BFA with a concentration in Painting and a minor in Sustainability Studies from the University of Florida. Her practice examines the broader implications of the Anthropocene, particularly how climate change shapes daily life, individual experience, and the human condition. Through narrative portraiture, Perez explores the interconnectedness of all living things and the ways we continually influence one another. Her work captures landscapes, marine life, and everyday moments, reflecting on her lived experiences as a Floridian.
Perez’s love for the environment began at a young age. Growing up in Florida, she found solace in the state’s natural landscapes: orange groves, open fields, and the icy waters of freshwater springs. These places offered relaxation and escape from the ordinary, nurturing her deep appreciation for nature. Through her artwork, Perez hopes to share that appreciation with others while inviting reflection on our relationship to the changing environment.
