GFAA Gallery - Operations Assistant
20-25 hours/week
$15-$20/hr based on skill level.
Must be able to work the following hours:

Weekly: Tuesday - Friday from 1 - 6pm.

Receptions (last Friday of Each Month from 7 - 10pm).

Artwork pickup/dropoff (The Saturday before the last Friday of the month from 3 - 7pm)

Exhibition Installs (Monday before the last friday of each month from 12 - 6pm)

Other events as needed: member meetings, concerts, etc.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Gainesville Fine Arts Association (GFAA) is looking for a part-time Operations Assistant with a wide range of skills at our gallery on south Main Street. The position will work closely with and assist the Executive Director with operations and administrative tasks. Candidates must be reliable, motivated, and detail oriented with excellent verbal, social and written communication skills. The ideal candidate has a friendly demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to represent the gallery and organization with professionalism and integrity. Must be able to prioritize, multi-task, problem solve and complete projects in a timely manner, working both independently and with the Executive Director, Work Study Students, Board Members and Volunteers. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated and is passionate and excited about our mission to support visual art and visual artists.
TASKS INCLUDE:

Gallery operations during open hours - including: Operates Square Register, cash deposit transmittals, cash drawer; Keeps track of art sales & artist proceeds and Gift shop sales and artist shelf rentals; Manages media and specifics of each installation; Ensures that the gallery and building is clean, tidy and organized; instructs and schedules work study students to help with gallery sitting and other tasks like cleaning, labels, etc.

Member relations - answers the phone, checks voicemail, speaks with gallery visitors; is up to date with everything going on in order to answer questions.

Membership database management and membership renewals.

Social Media as part of a team: instagram posts/stories and facebook event pages/posts/stories, posting events on community calendars.

Exhibitions - Work artwork dropoff/pickup days - keeps track of exhibiting artists and artworks and updates spreadsheets; Manages submission process; Creates, prints and installs labels statements and programs for exhibitions; Creates award letters and certificates for award winners.

Events - works with work study students and volunteers to set up, tear down and attend events - receptions, member meetings, concerts, and other events.

Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be over 21 years old

Must not be a current student

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive (docs, sheets, slides, forms)

Prompt attendance and adherence to a schedule.

Excellent customer service and communication skills, the ability to take direction and understand instruction, and the capacity to ask questions when more clarification or information is necessary.

Friendly, Self-motivated, helpful attitude, and reliable; proven ability to work collaboratively, conscientiously, and effectively with others in a team environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

One to three years relevant experience (art space or creative field is a plus)

Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop / Suite

Social Media experience

A Bachelors or Masters Degree in Art or a related field

Experience with art installations
