Dancing in the Plum
Nature is constantly changing. Captivating moments are immortalized with ephemeral subjects. This can be because they represent an animal, plant, or insect with a short lifespan or because the colors and lighting shift moment by moment. Here, bold turquoise leaves are juxtaposed against the subtle backdrop of soft flowing plum, salmon, and pale blue ones. The softness of the piece nudges us to be gentle with ourselves and each other during this lonely, hopefully ephemeral, season.
Materials and techniques: Cotton fabrics, paint, dye, gel medium, thread, batting, canvas. Free motion quilting, hand painting, hand dyeing, stenciling.
