I was recovering from emergency brain tumor surgery when my mother took the picture this painting was based from. I was dealing with crippling and depression from the diagnosis, surgery, and then recovery, and I cannot stress how much my horses helped me heal and focus on something other than what was going on with myself. It took me out of my own mind and body for a brief time and offered a respite from what was going on inside my head.
