The translation of nature to cloth here is playful with the vibrant fuschias, blues, and greens. Marrying paint, paper, and dye with the timeless quilting materials of cloth and thread conveys a sense of respect for tradition while also reflecting the spontaneity of the modern world. Fred and Ethyl are are a dynamic couple appearing over and over again in various forms in my work. They remind us of a happier, more carefree time.
 
Materials and techniques: Cotton fabrics, paint, dye, thread, batting, beads, paper fabric, gel medium, canvas; free motion machine stitching, hand stitching.
