This photo was taken in a classroom filled with chaos. An environment dedicated to focus but brimming with obliviousness. This piece tells a story, all too common, of the distraction most fall victim to while pursuing education while simultaneously obscurely presenting the slow erasure of the African from American History. This is in part due to a lack of awareness of and around oneself but can also come from an obsession with others, and a desire to stand with the majority. Frequently, it is difficult to be in the position of focused, diligent, and aware. There is a level of alienation in pursuing a path walked by few around you, but in this pursuit the knowledge acquired is invaluable. Through your journey, you too can see the truth.
