"Sarah" - Linda Henderson

Vintage textile

13" x 18"

I have always wanted to use this early photo of my Grandmother, Sarah, in a piece of textile art. She was born in Romania where her parents were rug weavers . After coming to America, she worked in the garment district in New York City. I learned to sew on her old, black Singer sewing machine. It is only fitting that I use cloth, thread, and buttons to honor her. Being at home these past months gave me many hours to remember her.
